​At Happy Top Doodles, we’re committed to helping you find the perfect puppy for your family. This page outlines the steps to bringing home your new furry companion, from the initial application to puppy pickup. Our goal is to make the process simple, transparent, and enjoyable, ensuring a great experience for both you and your puppy.

 

 1. Application Submission

 

Begin by completing our Puppy Application. This application helps us understand your preferences, lifestyle, and what you want in a puppy. Upon receiving your application, we will review it promptly.

 

2. Personalized Phone Consultation

 

After reviewing your application, we will contact you to schedule a phone call. During this conversation, we'll discuss potential puppy and litter fits, answer any questions you may have, and ensure that we're aligned in our expectations.

 

3. Placing a Deposit

 

Once we've mutually agreed on a suitable litter, you can place a deposit to secure your spot on the reservation list. Deposits are accepted via Venmo, Zelle, Apple Pay, or GoodDog. After placing your deposit, you'll be added to the list for your chosen litter in the order in which the deposit was received. We will keep you updated throughout the process, including notifications when the planned parents breed, confirmation of pregnancy, and the birth of the puppies.

 

4. Puppy Updates

 

Within 2-3 days of the litter's birth, we'll post a photo of the entire litter on our Current Puppies  page. Subsequent individual images will be posted approximately weekly, except during the week when the puppies' eyes start to open, as they are sensitive to bright lights during this time.

 

5. Puppy Selection

 

At 6 weeks, the puppies will have a well-check visit with our vet. Following this, we'll schedule a "Puppy Pick Day" conducted in the order of deposits received. Selections are typically made via FaceTime or WhatsApp video calls. An in-person selection may be possible in our carport or front yard for nearby families, weather permitting. It's advisable to have your preferred puppies listed in order from first to last to facilitate a timely selection process. 

 

Puppy picks proceed in the order deposits are received. The first deposit placed on a litter gets the first pick, the second deposit gets the second pick of the remaining puppies, and so on. If buyers do not get the puppy they want when it is their turn to pick, they can bump onto another litter at the first available pick slot. This ensures that each family can find the right puppy for their home.

After you have selected your puppy, contracts and go-home information will be emailed to you.

 

6. Puppy Pickup

 

Puppies are ready to go to their new homes at 8 weeks of age. Pickups are conducted in person at our home. Please ensure you're available to pick up your puppy at this time, as we are not a boarding facility. If you are unable to pick up your puppy at the 8-week timeframe, we can provide short-term board-and-train for $35 per day with prior approval.

 

The remaining balance for your puppy is due at least 24 hours before pickup for payments made electronically to ensure there are no problems with the transaction processing at the time of pickup. Cash is accepted for final payment at the pickup time with prior notification. Upon arrival, please text us, and we will bring you your puppy and go-home materials. If you feel unwell, please inform us, and we can reschedule your pickup.

 

7. Ongoing Support

 

Your puppy will come with up-to-date vaccinations, deworming treatments, and a 6-week health check by our vet, with a copy provided for your records. You're also eligible for one month of free pet insurance through Trupanion. We are here to support you throughout your puppy's life, so please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
